Black Convocation, or “B.Con” for short, is a ceremony (virtual or in-person) hosted by current Black Trojans for incoming Black Trojans. Similar to the larger school-wide convocation, there will be speakers, performances and welcomes from faculty in each school. However, this is done by members of the Black community so the incoming first-year students are aware of what their resources are and who they can look to during this year. These speakers include representatives from the Black Student Assembly, the Center for Black Cultural and Student Affairs, the Black Alumni Association and USC Athletics. Finding a community is important to a student’s success in the college and university setting and we want to ensure that despite the circumstances, the Black first-year students will be aware of opportunities and resources for them.
